Volumes Are Expected To Stabilize Above 300 Million Units per Year
But With No Significant Recovery
FRAMINGHAM, Mass., December 2, 2013 – Worldwide PC shipments are expected to fall by -10.1% in 2013, slightly below the previous projection of -9.7%, and by far the most severe yearly contraction on record, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly PC Tracker.
Interest in PCs has remained limited, leading to little indication of positive growth beyond replacement of existing systems.
Total shipments are expected to decline by an additional -3.8% in 2014 before turning slightly positive in the longer term.
At these rates, total PC shipments will remain just above 300 million during the forecast – barely ahead of 2008 volumes.
Even in emerging markets – a primary growth engine of the PC market – shipments are projected to decline in 2014 and recover by only a few percent during the forecast.read more
According to the latest forecast from the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Tablet Tracker, worldwide tablet shipments are expected to reach 221.3 million units in 2013, down slightly from a previous forecast of 227.4 million but still 53.5% above 2012 levels.
Shipment growth is forecast to slow to 22.2% year over year in 2014 to a total of 270.5 million units.
By 2017, annual market growth will slow to single-digit percentages and shipments will peak at 386.3 million units, down from the previous forecast of 407 million units.read more

Worldwide Server Market Revenues Decline -3.7% in the Third Quarter as Weak Unix Server Demand Weights on the Market, According to IDC
FRAMINGHAM, Mass., December 4, 2013 – According to the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Server Tracker, factory revenue in the worldwide server market decreased -3.7% year over year to $12.1 billion in the third quarter of 2013 (3Q13).
This was the 3rd consecutive quarter of year-over-year revenue decline, as server market demand remained soft ahead of a forthcoming refresh cycle, which is expected to emerge in early 2014.
After increasing modestly in 2Q13, server unit shipments were flat year over year in 3Q13 with 2.3 million units shipped worldwide.read more
