Giving Small Business a Competitive Advantage with the Cloud

Anyone involved with technology and business is hearing about the cloud — what many do not know is how the cloud is giving small businesses a competitive advantage.
As technology changes, which it so rapidly does, it is important that small businesses keep up-to-date with the latest trends opening up opportunities to innovate, diversify, gain, and keep a competitive advantage.
Cloud computing is one of these trends it is extremely cost-effective for small businesses, reducing IT costs and increasing efficiency in the process.
Cloud services are extremely secure and provide small businesses with flexibility, allowing users to access and update records wherever they are in the world.
It implies that the digital infrastructure of a small business can be housed externally and can provide a versatile alternative to keeping servers on site.
Servers can be very costly to maintain, in the case of failure replacing a server is extremely costly not only for the hardware but also in time.
Server failure can prevent a business from operating on a day to day basis this is especially important to online organisations.
Meeting Business Needs
One of the greatest ways of giving small businesses a competitive advantage is that a cloud system can be tailored to individual business needs, for example with a hosted desktop solution you only pay per user so there is no wasted costs on users who do not require the service.
With a lot of cloud solutions they are plug and play meaning they can be easily integrated into your business depending upon your requirements.
This approach to IT can even make outsourcing easier, for example customer services can be handled by teams from anywhere in the world with easy access to the information that they need.\
The speed of cloud computing operations is also much faster and vastly diminishes the possibilities of outages that may be suffered when just one internal server is relied upon.
Free Up Capital
The technical advantages that come with a cloud solution are giving small businesses a competitive advantage and the chance to expand helping reduce costs not only in IT but across the entire organisation.
Small businesses which rarely have the budgets to be able to afford a large IT department can utilise the cloud to manage IT services. With the cloud an organisation reduce capital expenditure not only on personnel but also on hardware and maintenance.
Each business has its own unique set of needs, aims and investment capabilities and a good cloud computing service will enable a small-to-medium business to acquire a package that best fits these requirements.
