A learner need not possess a college degree to join the PMP training program.
If you can join the course with a high school diploma along with five years experience in project management.
Similarly, the bachelor’s degree with 3 years experience in project management can also acquire PMP education.
However, it is mandatory for a learner to acquire additional 35 hours of project management education from an approved professional development unit (PDU), in addition to his educational qualification and project management experience.
You can find many colleges and professional training centers, approved by PMI, offering the project management education.
Obtaining the Certification
The interested individuals also have to apply for the lengthy PMP certification process.
The application process is designed specifically to evaluate your experience in specific phases of project management.
The applicants are normally asked to express their professional project management experience in terms of hours, months and years.
The information collected from each applicant will also be audited thoroughly to verify their accuracy and authenticity.
After verification of the details, the applicant will receive notification about his PMP exam prep and schedule.

Maintaining Your Certification
After clearing the test at your nearest authorized testing center, you will obtain the PMP certification, which is valid for 3 years.
You have to regularly participate in PMI-approved activities to acquire the 60 PDUs required for your PMP certification renewal.
Along with attending courses, you can consider publishing articles and delivering talks on various aspects of project management to acquire the required PDUs.
