Infograph: How Safe is Your Job? Think Again…

Send to Kindle

Editor’s note: Most of us believe we are relatively safe at work and that our biggest danger comes from driving to and from work. For the most part, this is true. All this had us thinking, especially since many of us are lovers of the Discovery program, Dangerous Catch, just how risky are some jobs? This infograph, provided by Gerri Elder, helps us get a better perspective on the safety level other jobs. This article is from guest blogger Marley Ward, school district administrator.

Men and women generally choose low risk jobs such as restaurant work, clerical positions, and retail sales to make ends meet.

However, it could take years of laboring in the same occupation to achieve financial gain.

Others choose high risk jobs that could kill them for financial and other reasons.

Working high risk jobs is challenging, interesting, never boring, and offers a unique sense of accomplishment.

Some positions pay well where others do not, but these employees feel great satisfaction by being included in the small group who are able to perform the task.

These jobs may cause harm to a person’s physical body with broken or fractured bones or burns due to fire or chemicals.

Their health could deteriorate from diseases contracted or ailments appearing later in life leading from exposure to certain substances.

Mental stress of the worker and their family and friends are also consequences of this type of employment.
